A nod to Britain

Whether she knows it or not Kate Middleton is now on every designers radar! The new Duchess has now taken on the role of Princess-to-be and Fashion ICON!!

Sarah Burton had the pleasure of designing Middleton's fabulous wedding dress and her sister's bridesmaid dress as well. And who wouldn't have chosen Burton!? The Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 collection was nothing short of royal - the runway even had live wolves thrown in for a little something extra! Burton presented dramatic, elegant, and overall bold statement pieces that were absolutely breath taking. The collection was titled "The Ice Queen and her court" and surly drew inspiration for the Royal Wedding designs.

In fact, it may be a coincident but it seems that many of the Fall lines are drawing inspiration from Westminster events and showing British influence... take a look at some of the design details in the Fall 2011 collections that are giving a nod to Britain.

MY First TIME!

That's right it was my first time...styling a male model! What did you think I was talking about?

Now of course I style my boyfriend everyday - and I have done fashion shows styling male models, but never a shoot! So this one was extra fun!!

Jason Eng, Hedkandi, Wray Bokitch, Imodel Management and myself all collaborated for one of my most valued portfolio pieces! I was so excited to finally add a male model to my book, and while I must admit it definitely was a more challenging pull than usual, I totally nailed it ;)  - Imodel's Kelsey and Matt rocked this shoot! With a blazer story and moody lighting we re-invented Tom Ford.

Take a look at a couple behind the scene snaps I took - I can't wait for the real thing!

red HOT !

Left: Acne / Right: Marc Jacobs

Did anybody mention the RED ALERT happening! RED is the colour gracing every major runway this season and it is showing itself in so many different themes. RED doesn't always have to be sexy... this season has shown us RED sophisticated, elegant, edgy, and even conservative. While solid RED is quite literal to the trend you can always do a print inspired by RED as well. Make a statement with a orange -RED or sport a muted red with crimson tones for a more dramatic feeling.

Some of us may be ready to rock the Red pants NOW! But for the less forward dresser ease your way in with a great RED accessory - every girl needs a pair of fabulous RED shoes!

And if you decide that RED clothing just isn't your thing... then at least sport a RED lip this season! Dior, Fendi, DVF, and Gucci (just to name a few) all sent RED lips down their runway this season. Chanel can always provide a great RED lipstick (my personal fav is their Rouge Allure Laque 75) but recently I just found out that YSL does vegan lipsticks -  I just bought myself the vibrant Rouge Pur Couture 01 and am loving it.

So punch up your wardrobe with a little or a lot of RED...
